For some years he was a sailor. He spent his youth on board of ships sailing from the Far East to Latin America and from Greenland to Antarctic. He painted all his life. His first exhibition was held in 1972. Since then he has frequently exhibited at home and abroad. He likes to paint small black wooden ships, which sailed in the Danish waters in his youth, or the tiny villages and their inhabitants from his native island of Fyen.
